Does Online Therapy Work?
At first, I was skeptical.
I worked as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist for seventeen years in an office in Plantation, where I had a therapy room and sat face-to-face with my clients. I enjoyed everything about the experience, meeting and working with my clients, my calming and peaceful therapy room, and the “aha” moments that happened when a couple or individual found clarity in something that was struggling to them.
Then in March 2020, coronavirus was what we were talking about and we were in the middle of a global pandemic. Safety had to take precedence and it provided therapists and clients an exciting new opportunity. The pandemic changed many things including the way we perceived therapy.
It opened the idea that counseling can happen on a secure online platform. Clients still receive the same quality therapy that they would receive in an office session.
Why Did I Stay Online?
I stayed virtual because my couples and individuals were enjoying the online platform.
The results I was observing in sessions were positive as couples and individuals felt comfortable in their own surroundings and enjoyed the flexible hours that I can offer.
Telehealth was proving to be as effective and, in some relationships, even more effective.
When I ask my clients about the online counseling experience, they share that the opportunity of couples counseling with me as an Online Therapist is valuable, convenient, fits into their busy schedule and a perfect platform to work on their marital struggles.
I continue to stay online because my clients and I both see value in this platform and embrace the online experience.
Is Online Counseling Different Than Being in a Therapy Office?
Yes, a little. It is not as commonly thought of as face-to-face therapy. But different does not mean ineffective or without value. Actually, it is the opposite. Online therapy is very effective, extremely valuable and has many benefits for the client.
What Are the Benefits of Online Couples or Individual Relationship Counseling?
It is convenient.
Find a private space in your home, at your work, or in your car. Then sit at your computer, or grab your laptop, tablet or cell phone and click on the link that brings you into a secure, confidential platform. The convenience of online counseling enables you to be able to have a session even if you had a hectic day.
It is comfortable.
You are in the comfort of your own personal space. You can sit with your favorite pillows on your comfortable couch as we talk.
It is effective.
Research has shown that online counseling can be just as effective for most cases, as face-to-face therapy. With me as your therapist, I will bring the same education, expertise, techniques, tools, calming presence, non-judgmental stance and sense of humor to your online session that I would if we met in the office.
It saves you time.
Since you do not have to drive anywhere, you don’t have to deal with traffic. No traffic is a big bonus because we know there is a lot of traffic in certain parts of Florida. You don’t have to take extra time off from work to get to a session. So, it is easier to carve out some time during your busy week to focus on your relationship.
It reduces the need to cancel.
Online counseling takes away some of the obstacles, like traffic, hiring a babysitter, and limited time in your schedule. Without the obstacles, you can have your scheduled sessions to get the support, tips and techniques that you desire.
It is confidential.
The platform I use is a secure HIPAA compliant platform. I am in a private room with a closed door. I will make sure it is confidential on my end and you will make sure you have the privacy on your end.
If you are a high-profile client or someone who is very private and you do not want to be seen walking into a therapy office, online counseling is the way to go.
It is available if you live in Florida.
A Fantastic BONUS! You can live anywhere in Florida and we can work together.
You are not confined to picking a therapist who is geographically close to you. Instead, you can work with the Relationship Expert who is a good fit for your relationship.
If you live in Florida and are in the state at the time of our sessions, I am available to you from the Florida Keys to the Panhandle and all areas in the middle, Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Boca Raton, West Palm Beach, Naples, Orlando, Tampa, Gainesville, just to name a few.
Eliminating distance as a factor is great news if you want to work with me.
Make your marriage a priority and fit therapy into your busy schedule. Therapy can happen early morning before you go to work, during the day or early evening.
