Online Counseling and Therapy for Couples and Individuals in Florida
Due to COVID-19, we are practicing social distancing.
But since relationship struggles are not on hold until the pandemic passes, the perfect solution is online therapy.
Online Counseling gives you and your relationship the personal attention an office visit would offer in the comfort and privacy of your own space.
The stress of the coronavirus is being felt worldwide. We know that COVID-19 is changing the world as we knew it. My curiosity is, how are you? How is your relationship? Were you in a satisfying relationship before this global pandemic or was your relationship one that was already a bit shaky?
Would you benefit from better communication, reducing conflicts, more intimacy, rebuilding trust, and a deeper connection? Could you imagine if you and your partner could stop arguing, start feeling heard, understood and validated? Would you have hope? Relationship struggles happen. The extra stress and tension can take a toll on you, making you and your partner unhappy and resentful. Don’t let the resentment build up any longer. Research shows that couples wait an average of six years before getting help. Don’t wait. Let’s transform your relationship to one that is satisfying and happy.
Hi, I’m Michelle Scharlop and my practice is located in Plantation, Florida in Broward County. Since I am licensed in the state of Florida, as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I am able to provide online therapy throughout Florida. I offer relationship counseling for couples and individuals and I can be Your Relationship Expert if you choose to contact me. My life’s work is transforming relationships, one relationship at a time. Let’s work together so your relationship can be transformed into the one you have always desired.
Does online therapy work?
At first, I was skeptical. I have worked as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist for the past sixteen years in an office, where I had a therapy room and sat face to face with my clients. I enjoyed everything about the experience, meeting and working with my clients, my calming and peaceful therapy room, and the “aha” moments that happened when a couple or individual found clarity in something that was struggling to them. Then in March 2020 coronavirus was what we were talking about and we were in the middle of a global pandemic. Safety had to take precedence and it provided therapists and clients an exciting new opportunity. COVID-19 changed many things including the way we perceived therapy. It opened up the idea that counseling can happen on a secure online platform. Clients still receive the same quality therapy that they would receive in an office session.
Is online counseling different than being in a therapy office?
Yes, a little. It is not as commonly thought of as face to face therapy. But different does not mean ineffective or without value. Actually, it is the opposite. Online therapy is very effective, extremely valuable and has many benefits for the client.
What are the benefits of online counseling?
It is convenient. Find a private space in your home, at your work, or in your car. Then sit at your computer, or grab your laptop, tablet or cell phone and click on the link that brings you into a secure, confidential platform. The convenience of online counseling enables you to be able to have a session even if you had a hectic day.
It is comfortable. You are in the comfort of your own personal space. You can sit with your favorite pillows on your comfy couch as we talk.
It is effective. Research has shown that online counseling can be just as effective for most cases, as face to face therapy. With me as your therapist, I bring the same education, expertise, techniques, tools, calming presence, non-judgmental stance and sense of humor to your online session that I would if we met in the office.
It saves you time. Since you do not have to drive anywhere, you don’t have to deal with traffic. No traffic is a big bonus because we know there is a lot of traffic in certain parts of Florida. You don’t have to take extra time off from work to get to a session. So, it is easier to carve out some time during your busy week to focus on your relationship.
It reduces the need to cancel. Online counseling takes away some of the obstacles, like traffic, hiring a babysitter, and limited time in your schedule. Without the obstacles, you can have your scheduled sessions to get the support, tips and techniques that you desire.
It is confidential. The platform I use is a secure HIPAA compliant platform. I am in a private room with a closed door. I will make sure it is confidential on my end and you will make sure you have the privacy on your end. An added bonus is if you are a high-profile client or someone who is very private and does not want to be seen walking into a therapy office, online counseling is the way to go.
It is COVID-19 friendly. You are in the safety of your own personal space and still getting effective relationship counseling. Online counseling will be done without the need for a mask and will alleviate any concern you might have about an office session.
BONUS…You can live anywhere in Florida and we can work together. You are not confined to picking a therapist who is geographically close to you so you can fit therapy into your busy schedule. Instead you can work with the Relationship Expert who is a good fit for your relationship. Therapy can happen early morning before you go to work, during the day or early evening.
How does online couples or individual counseling work?
Online Counseling is easy and you do not have to be a tech guru to have this convenient opportunity. The first step is to contact me for a complimentary 15-minute phone conversation to tell me a little bit about what is going on for you right now and for you to hear how I can help. During that time, we schedule an appointment. Then I will email you the paperwork that needs to be signed and sent back. I will also email you a link to a secure online platform that you click on at our set day and time. Our video call will begin shortly after you sign in.
If you are interested or not sure, contact me. Take me up on the offer of a 15-minute complimentary consultation. Share your counseling needs, ask questions, and I will share a few more details about my counseling services. Let’s talk about how I can help you.
